Another army purse

Every once in a while a lady needs a new purse. So I made a new one. This is called a messenger purse. I used some of the new stuff I got at the sewing expo at the beginning of March. I made up my own pattern from a picture that I took of a similar purse. Turned out pretty good if you ask me.

I made a new ACU purse to sell on etsy. I still need to put on the shoulder straps before I will list it. But it is my favorite one that I have made so far.

UPDATE!!!!! This is me in my new dress.

This weekend we are going to the Army MP regimental annual ball. This is the dress and matching clutch that I made. I have not made a new ball gown for a while. I kept recycling my old ball gown from 6 years ago. I am so excited for something new.

ACU Purse

For sale $50.00

 

This is a new ACU purse I plan to put on Etsy.com.  I have had some problems however with my computer and I don't know if I can load pictures onto Etsy.com.

Purse measurements are 9 L X 9 W X 5 D.  I used an ACU jacket and striped it.  I love all the pockets on the jacket and Incorporated them in the purse inside and out.  For the shoulder strap I used the collar of the jacket and for the closing strap I used the wrist strap.  I love the hot pink digital camo print.  It has a fun pleated strip at the top.

The front pockets of the jacket are on both sides of the purse with Velcro so you can put your name or have army wife name tapes made like I have for my purse.

 

The sides both look like this.  I used the shoulder pockets, you can add shoulder patches or an American flag to show your support for your soldier. 

 

The inside has lots of room for all your needs.  I like the side pocket.  Finally a place to put the pens and pencils.  I can never find them.

Scripture ACU bag

My daughter asked for her own ACU purse so I made her a scripture bag complete with places for pencils or pens to mark her scriptures.

I had to make a new purse my other one was too too big.  I bought another ACU shirt at clothing sales and looked up a pattern http://www.chriswdesigns.com and presto a new purse.  I didn't want to make the straps.  I could not find what I really wanted so in the mean time.

I bought a dog leash.  I know that it is corny.  But it works.

Everything and the kitchen sink emergency bag

For my official 200th post I would like to share my "Everything and the kitchen sink emergency bag".  I needed a crazy gift for a family member this year.  I really love this back pack pattern that I made for my girls for Christmas.  So I made one.  Then I thought that is not crazy at all, so the thought came to me "every thing plus the kitchen sink"

I could not help my self I think I got a little carried away.  It is supposed to be under $30.  I am pretty sure if I had actually purchased all of this it would have cost more.  But I got 90% of this for free so I will let it slide.  I really like the colors in the bag I might have to make one for me.  Now if she keeps this in the car or some where close she will have every thing she should need.  Right?  Oh I forgot to put in some hand lotion.  I will go get the lotion I bought today for $.36.  Yes that is correct$.36.  I Just love coupons.

back packs for christmas

My girls are getting these for Christmas.  Shh! don't tell them. I love this pattern it is called Quilters Rucksack by Bethany Reynolds. I really like the colors of the smaller one.  I wish I had more of the fabric.  I have just about used it all and wow the colors together are great.  The Pink one is all the strips of pink fabric that I had in my scrap box.  I had a lot.  I have two girls and they love pink. 

I really need to raid my moms fabric stash.  She lets me go shopping in her fabric stash and it has been a while.  Sucks she lives so far away.

This one is for my neighbor for her birthday which was yesterday.  They only take a few hours to make and could very easly be made form the stuff you already have in your home.  The pattern comes in three sizes.  Well back to sewing.

ACU shirt to purse redo

Last week I made a ACU skirt out of my husband old ACU Pants.  This week I had to have a matching purse.  I made this out of his old ACU shirt. I found this cool Army fabric in Spokane WA at the quilts show and decided this is the project to use it with.

I can't really tell you how I made this.  I confess I did not use a conventional pattern.  I basically unpicked the entire shirt and then reassembled it.  I did most of the steps backwards.  for example I put the front and back pieces and zipper in to match the front of what the shirt actually looks like first before I put the sides together.   Then I put the lining pieces in one at a time.  Usually you would make the lining and then sew it to the purse.  I totally didn't do that either.  Then I had it half way assembled and decided I had to have the handle in before I could sew the rest together.  I was not sure it would all come together.  But funny it did and their is only one mistake and unless you know what to look for you will never find it. The next few pictures are of the inside.

I love pockets.  Every purse that I have made I have tried to put in as many pockets as I can.

This Zipper is like the way you would see the ACU shirt except I put the army fabric under neath.  Cool huh! So when you close the purse it looks like the front of the ACU shirt, in a manner of speaking.  The other pocket on the front is from the left over from the pants.  It is bigger than I planned, but since I didn't plan very well when making this I guess It is OK.
