I Scream You Scream We all Scream for The First Day of School and Ice Cream

Today Aug 23 is the first day of school.  Yee Haw!!!

So I thought I would make them a special treat for my kids.  Home made Strawberry Ice Cream!  I turned out great.

I will share my recipe with you just in case you have never made homemade ice cream.  Please correct that if you have not.  Just kidding

Ingredients for a four quart ice cream maker:

Two yes I say Two 16oz of fresh strawberries. cut up and blended
1 pint of half and half
1 quart of heavy whipping cream
2 cups of sugar
1 10 to 12oz can of evaporated milk
2 to 3 tbsp of vanilla

rock salt
2 to 3 bags of ice
Ice cream maker

Add all the ingredients together in the ice cream maker container.   Put the container inside the ice cream maker put the motor on container.  Put ice half way add about 1 cup salt.  Fill up to top with more ice and 1 cup on salt.

Turn on and let run.  As ice gets low add more ice and salt.  When the motor stops it is done.

Now you could eat now but  is really too soft.  I recommend taking the rack out of the middle and place wax paper of over top and then put the lid back on.  Repack with ice and salt and cover with towels and leave for about 2 hour.   Then serve.  Yumm Yummm!!!!!

Enjoy

And now I don't find things cool in food very often but this look so much like a heart that I had to take its picture.  This is my strawberry.

Happy first day of school.  Yeah moms!

Taco's anyone

OK!  So We love Tacos in my family.  My grandma has handed down her family recipe of taco's and my family loves them.  In fact when my mother was growing up Friday night was taco night at the Hartline's.  My grandmother would make them every Friday.  My mom didn't make them weekly but we had them often enough that it became a favorite of mine.  Well I make them at least once a month and sometimes twice.  Love them.   I made them last night, so I will share the recipe with you.

Fried Tacos

Corn Tortillas  I usually get package of 30
3 Lbs ground beef
1 medium potato graded
2  - 3 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp thyme
1 4 oz can tomato sauce
oil

OK so in a large pot put all the ground beef, vinegar, tomato sauce, thyme, and graded potato. stir together.  cook at med heat till done.   stirring occasionally.  Heat 3 to 4 tbsp of oil in cast iron skillet.  Scoop meat into tortilla and fry on both side, Like this.  It splatters and makes a big mess so be warned protect your self and don't let the kids stand close.  Them meat when it touches the oil spits oil everywhere and man it hurts.

Makes about 30.  add lettuce, cheese, tomatoes etc.  whatever you like on your taco's and enjoy.
