Haunted tree decoration -pumpkin update.

This year I made these cute Halloween ornaments.  I decorated the entry way table with the haunted tree.  Hopefully the kids will leave it alone.

I have a candy corn, mummy, ghost, vampire, Frankenstein, cat, bat, pumpkin and two witches.  They turned out so cute.  I can't wait to do the Thanksgiving and Christmas ones too.

The patterns for these ornaments, I got from Happy Hollow Design. You can also get the pattern for the skinny witch to the left of the haunted tree from Happy Hollow Designs.   If you are familiar with fusible quick grids you will like these patterns.
The table runner I believe came out of a Fons & Porter magazine.  I don't remember what year.  Within the last five years I think.

This is my only pumpkin.  I was pleased to get at least one.  I was not sure I would get any this year.  The Texas drought has been hard on the crops here.

Happy Halloween.

Halloween It is all about halloween

It is now all about Halloween for me.  My head is swimming with possible projects.
My mom sent me this pattern.  Well it is not quite like this because I changed it a bit.  If you are interested in the pattern you can find it at  www.thankfullysew.com  It is called  "Witch's crew". I added the "boo" at the bottom and the side strip is way different.  They did hour glasses. I didn't of course.  I still need to add something to it but I didn't have it yet, so well, I can add it later.  I really enjoyed making it.  Well that is not exactly true.  I love the pattern but I ran out of Heat n Bond half way through and used Pellon I had.  I don't care for Pellon.  Sorry to all of you that do, but I could not get it to do what I wanted it to do.  So I cursed at it a few times.  Sorry again.  But it turned out cute and that is all that matters.

Happy Halloween

Halloween Banner

I love the fall.  It give my lots of time to work on costumes and decorations for Halloween.  So I went looking at my patterns wondering what Halloween project I would like to do.  I liked bits and pieces of patterns that I had.  But it didn't match up to what I was looking for.  So I put stuff together.  This is what I came up with.  I found clip art from my Word  program and then added parts of patterns to create this banner.  I really love how it turned out.  I thought I would share how I put it together. Tutorial Time!(:

You will need:
7 clip art pictures
7 Black felt squares
1/4 yard of three fabrics
scraps of various other colors
1 1/2 yard heat n bond
 Spool of Halloween ribbon
Buttons for eyes
quick fuse bias tape (for mummy)

1.So I went to my clip art section of Word and cut and paste a few Halloween pictures. I enlarged them to fit the page and then rotated them to have a mirror image. Then printed them.

2. I traced the pieces onto heat n bond. Cut the pieces out and ironed on the corresponding colors.

3.  Next I cut the pieces out and placed them on the black felt square, then Ironed them to the square.

4.  I used the blanket stitch and stitched it to the felt.

5.  I then cut out the figure leaving a 1/8" around the piece, leaving 1 3/4" piece at the top for weaving in ribbon.

6.  At the top of the piece I made two slits for weaving in ribbon.

7. Weave in ribbon.  Cut 3 2" strips from 3 different fabrics.  I used pinking sheers on the edges.  I cut in half and then in half again.  this will give you four strips from each strip.

8.  I tied each of the three fabrics on each side of each figure.  Hang up.  Happy Halloween.  OK.  I did not leave it up it is too early.   Now what to do next?

Skeleton's in my closet

OK! So I was watching Live with Regis and Kelly, a couple of weeks ago, and they were doing half way to Halloween segments, spoofing reality T.V. people. Very Funny right! Well it got me to thinking! If they are talking about my favorite holiday, couldn't I start getting ready for my favorite holiday too?
I had this pattern that I got from my mom a few months ago, it is a huge blanket with all kinds of Halloween stuff. Cute but I don't do big holiday quilts. Just holiday wall hangings. I have lost count on how many Halloween wall hangings I have. I just know I don't have enough wall space in my small military base house. Anyway, so I picked the coolest part of the pattern and made a wall hanging. I have it hanging on a wall now and wow it was bigger than I thought it would be. 58 X 35.  No I am not leaving it up till Halloween, my family would kill me.  Plus we move to TX in a few weeks and the packers will pack it away for me.
And yes, I am hating that I did the bats too dark. I bet you can’t see them either. Really sucks. Oh well. It is done can't do anything about it now. Anyway, I love how the skeleton looks and even with all the pieces, 108 to be exact not counting the other pieces just the skeleton, I am pleased.

Happy Halloween!
Early! oooooooooo!
