Patriotic Flip Flop Wreath

I am all ready for the patriotic holidays this year.

I got this Flip Flop wreath idea from Pinterest of course.

I went to Dollar Store starting in April every couple of weeks until I finally got these patriotic flip flops.  I scoped them out on the website but it was not until second week in May that I was able to find them.  Then I had to go to three stores to find all of them in the size I wanted.  Which you can see I gave up on the one pair that I only have one of.  

The center piece also came from the Dollar Store.

The patriotic picks came from Micheal's.

This was the cheapest wreath I have ever made.  Got to love Dollar Stores and coupons at Michael's.

I made Texas Flag from reclaimed wood.  I had one piece left so I made a simple flag piece.  My daughter wanted to help.

I dry brushed blue around a flag that I placed inside the small box made from the tape.  Sorry I did not take a picture of that.

Than I taped the center two inches and let my daughter dry brush red on both sides.

I than moved the tape to make the white strip.

She did such a good job.

DIY Old wood Texas Flag

I had a old grey piece of wood on the side of the house.  I turned it into a couple patriotic pieces. We love Texas in our house.  We lived in Texas for a few years so I made a the state flag.  It is really simple.

You will need 2 pieces of old wood cut to 20"

Red White and Blue craft paint

 A paint brush good for dry brush painting

Wood glue

Large clamp

Painters tape

Star printed and cut out from card stalk

My two pieces of 20" wood

Glue the pieces together and then clamp them together until dry.

Place painters tape about 8" from the left side of your wood. Center card stalk star and dry brush in blue all around the star up to the painters tape.

I decided to not paint the star white and just left it.

I moved the painters tape over to the left covering over the blue line you just painted. Dry brush the top half with white.

It should look just like this.  You can put painters tape in the center to keep from painting on the bottom half or if you are really good just paint to the line that separates the two pieces of wood.

Now dry brush the red.

When you are finished it should look like this.  I then put hooks on the back to hang on the wall and you are done.

Bottle Cap American Flag

I am so excited to show my newest patriotic picture.  I have seen these on Pinterest so I set out to make my own.  

I visited my local Applebees and asked them to save bottle caps for me.  They agreed and weeks later I had enough to make this beautiful flag.  

I picked a nice piece of plywood and thin trim to make a frame.  Cut it the size that I needed.  Stained it with gray.  Sanded to ruff it up a bit.  Then glued the caps on in a prelaid out pattern.  Vuola!

Patriotic Candy Bouquet

My husbands unit is having a silent auction to raise money for the holiday party.
