Spooky Pillows

I was looking in blog world the other day and came across this cute bat pillow here at Just another hang up.

I liked it so much I made my own and then decided I should expand and make a vampire and Frankenstein.  I have a tutorial for how I made these.  The blog I got it from also has a tutorial.  I made the vampire the focus of the tutorial.

You will need
1/2 yard muslin
1/2 yard for back of pillow (red to match cape)
1/2 yard of heat n bond
Black felt
white felt
red felt
Black fabric marker
1/4 yard face fabric (pale yellow or off white)
1/4 yard hair fabric (black)
1/4 yard cape fabric (red)
Piece of gray fabric (Frankenstein)
Piece of Temtex(Frankenstein)
Thread black

1. First I drew out my pattern.  I used my biggest Tupperware bowl I could find for the circle.

2.  I traced out patten onto heat n bond and then ironed it to fabric.(OK so these are the bat wings.  I didn't take a picture of the vampire pieces on the heat n bond).
3.  I traced a circle on muslin and a circle for the back.  (back not pictured)

4.  I placed cut out pieces on the muslin and ironed them down.

5.  I used a blanket stitch around applique and a fabric marker to make mouth.
6.  I sewed the front and back right sides together leaving opening at bottom.  Big enough to put your hand through.  Then I stuffed to desired thickness.  I whipped stitch the opening and your done.

To make the Frankenstein ears I used Temtex and heat n bond fabric to both sides then satin stitched all round.  Placed it in the sandwich before I sewed it together

Happy Halloween

  4. First off, these pillows are SO freaking cute! I am the only woman in my family who never learned how to sew. (Well, sort of. I kind of know, but mostly don't. Not with the machine.) But it's seeing these kind of projects that make me want to try. SO awesome!

Also, I wanted to stop by and let you know that I've got you added to the Haunt Jaunts Spooktacular Halloween V.I.P. guest list. THANKS for signing up!
